Almost! We have about an hour of indoor play each morning and afternoon during colder weather. We also eat inside during the winter. We nap inside year round. Otherwise, we are out exploring the world all day!
What is the student to teacher ratio?
We have 10 kids each day and one teacher. We have one-two parent helpers each day. Our adult:student ratio is regularly 1:5
Are there ticks in the prairie?
Being in a forest or prairie often means finding a tick or two. We make sure to do frequent tick checks, and use the appropriate repellant when necessary.
What if it's raining?
We have great rain gear that will keep the children dry! Children love playing in the rain. If there is thunder or lightning, we will go inside for 10 minutes.
What about extreme cold?
Children wear many warm layers in the cold weather. Plus, we are so busy running around that we hardly notice the cold! If there is an extreme cold advisory- where the air is so cold that it might hurt the children, we will play inside.
What if it's really hot outside?
Our yard has lots of shady spots, which provide relief from the heat. We also do lots of water play, drink extra water, and make sure we are all wearing appropriate clothing when it's really hot outside.
